Building Update!!!

Randy Wright, our Facilities Director, recently walked through the building site to provide us with a brief update on the construction progress to date. Please join us in thanking Randy for his time and the Lord for His amazing faithfulness to NWC.

South Wing:
· Classrooms are all painted and ceilings are being installed
· Gym equipment has been installed
· Gym is painted
· Kitchen is ready for paint
· Sound boards in gym, kitchen and music rooms are being installed

North Wing:
· Hanging of sheet rock, as well as mudding and taping is being completed
· Wiring for Heating/Ventilation/Air Conditioning is completed
· Framing is nearly finished

Mechanical Room:
· Finishing up

Roofing:
· Finished

Lobby:
· Windows are installed
· Sheet rock is done and mudding and taping is being finished

Misc:
· All windows have been installed
· Door frames are installed
· Doors will be installed last to prevent any damage

Praise:

For the completed and continuing work on the elementary building...parking lot, landscaping, drywall, heating/ventilation, etc.

For the beautiful weather we enjoyed in September.

For the completion of the Firm Foundation Investment, LLC which is fully funded and was finalized on September 29th. Forty-three individuals invested a total of $7 million over the past 7 months which will allow the elementary building to be completed by March of 2012. Thank you Lord!!!

Prayer:

Pray that the Lord would bless the investors of the Firm Foundation LLC and everyone who has donated time, prayer and/or finances toward the completion of the elementary building project.

Pray that all aspects for completing the building (costs, construction, etc.) would go as planned.

Pray that as we endeavor to elevate the Gospel at NWC, we would persevere through any opposition that takes place.

Pray that we would increasingly become a community of praying people.

In preparation for concrete, gravel was delivered last Friday and spread throughout the south wing of the elementary building. Yesterday, workers began laying a yellow vapor barrier over the rock.

Successful Capital Campaign Phase concluded 12/31/10

Over $3.9 Million was raised through our supporters and assets

Work accomplished: Caretaker's Home, Fine Arts Wing, Elementary School Design, Infrastructure, Drainage, Septic Systems, Foundation, and Walls!

Student's testimony on the basketball court, the stage, in ministry, in the classroom and the community

The exceptional response to Capital Investment Phase. We have commitments for over half of this $7 Million offering! Praise God!

As a Christian, it is often difficult to know what God's will is for our lives; however, in the area of prayer, God has made Himself very clear. He desires that His people be devoted to prayer. He is so committed to our lives of prayer that His own Son was crucified so that we may be made fit to "come into His presence with thanksgiving." God continually calls out to His people to "draw near" to Him. In First Thessalonians we are urged to "pray without ceasing."

The Lord has impressed on us at Northwest Christian to become men and women dedicated to prayer. Our leadership has given a strong call to make prayer a greater priority in each of our lives. We would like to invite you to join us in praying for Northwest Christian Schools.

The Bus to Somewhere ... Great! departs the Northwest Christian Central Campus at 9:00am on Tuesday, September 14th. It will arrive at the Colbert construction site after a short 25 minute ride. Teaming Up! With Mr. Ricks

Last summer I had the opportunity to attend my 20 year class reunion and was incredibly blessed to spend time with many of my old friends and their families. Part of our reunion included touring the Central campus. Walking through the hallways of our old school brought back memories from the past which seemed to have happened only days ago. As we strolled through the familiar corridors and reminisced about times long past, we also watched our children laugh and play in the very classrooms where we had once sat as students. I was personally filled with gratefulness that my own sons are receiving Godly instruction in these same rooms.

The Lord has used this scene, along with the words in 3 John 4, “I have no greater joy than to hear my children are walking in the truth,” to change how I think about leading my own children and the students at NWC. As a father and principal I often push and prod them to excel in their academic and athletic activities. However, many times my perspective becomes more focused on “positive” goals and “good” outcomes that I have planned for them, rather than on the “best” goal: that they, Walk in the Truth. I am learning to ask myself new questions--Do our children love Jesus with their whole heart? Are their hearts daily being transformed by the truth of His Word? Are they learning to walk out their faith in loving and caring for others?

I desire that my children and the students at NWC place Jesus above everything else in their lives. Twenty years from now, I long to see them Walking in the Truth, being used mightily as difference-makers for Christ. I truly have no greater joy than this!
